Former Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, has expressed admiration for Mikel Arteta’ commitment to promoting youth within the team, drawing parallels to the club’s former manager Arsene Wenger. However, Bellerin insists that Arteta is carving out his own path and creating a distinct identity for Arsenal.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Bellerin highlighted the similarities between Wenger and Arteta in their approach to nurturing young talent. He praised Arteta for continuing the tradition of giving opportunities to young players, a hallmark of Wenger’s tenure at the club. Bellerin noted, “One of the things that I really like about Mikel is that he’s trying to write his own chapter, but always taking into account the history of the club.
Despite the similarities, Bellerin emphasized that Arteta is not merely replicating Wenger’s methods. Instead, he is building on the foundations laid by Wenger while introducing his own unique style and philosophy. Bellerin added, “Arsenal has always been a club where young players wanted to go because they knew they had a chance, and I think he’s been able to follow that. He’s created a team that doesn’t play the same football as Wenger, but the essence is still there.
Arteta, who played alongside Bellerin under Wenger, has earned praise for restoring Arsenal’s presence in the Champions League and building a competitive team that reflects both the club’s history and his own approach to management. Bellerin, who left Arsenal in 2022, remains confident that Arteta will lead the club to major success.
