Swedish star Gyökeres takes part in Arsenal final training session in Singapore, building hype for the overseas North London Derby.
Arsenal pre-season tour in Asia took a thrilling turn as newly signed Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres officially joined the squad for their final training session in Singapore, ahead of the highly anticipated North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong.
Gyökeres, who completed his move from Sporting Lisbon over the weekend in a deal reportedly worth up to £64 million, wasted no time integrating into his new team. He flew directly to Singapore and was unveiled to a roaring crowd of over 38,000 fans at the National Stadium before Arsenal’s 3–2 win over Newcastle.
Though he didn’t feature in that match, his presence electrified the atmosphere. The striker interacted with fans, signed autographs, and soaked in the warm welcome from the Gunners faithful.
Monday marked Gyökeres’ first official training session with Arsenal. Photos captured him sharing smiles with teammates and getting his first touches in during a high-energy workout under the Singapore sun. Manager Mikel Arteta emphasized the importance of assessing Gyökeres’ fitness before rushing him into action, noting that the striker hadn’t trained since Sporting’s title-winning campaign.
Despite the lack of recent training, Arteta expressed eagerness to integrate the forward “as quick as possible,” hinting at a potential debut in Thursday’s clash against Spurs.
