Rodrygo joined Real Madrid in 2018 for €45 million (£39.3m) and has since won multiple trophies, including three La Liga titles and two Champions League triumphs. However, Madrid is reportedly willing to let him go this summer, with a price tag of around €80m (£67.5m). The 24-year-old is set to hold talks with new Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso before deciding on his future.

Speaking on the Podpah Podcast, Gabriel was asked whether Arsenal would sign Rodrygo. While he admitted he wasn’t sure, he made it clear that he would love to see his Brazilian teammate at the Emirates Stadium. “Rodrygo is a phenomenon, for me. If it depended on me, I’ve told people already, he’s a phenomenon,” Gabriel said.

Arsenal eyes Rodrygo, but they are not alone in the race for his signature. Chelsea has also expressed interest in signing the winger, making the battle for his services even more competitive. However, Alonso has hinted that he wants to keep Rodrygo at Madrid, stating, “Rodrygo is a spectacular player and we will need him.”

With Arsenal looking to bolster their attacking options, Gabriel’s endorsement of Rodrygo adds weight to the speculation surrounding the Brazilian’s future. Whether Arsenal can secure his signature remains to be seen, but if Gabriel had his way, Rodrygo would be wearing the red and white of Arsenal next season.
