Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the fitness of Gabriel Magalhaes ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night. Gabriel, who scored Arsenal’s opening goal in their 5-2 victory over West Ham, was forced off at half-time due to an injury sustained during the team’s Champions League match against Sporting CP earlier in the week.

Arteta confirmed that Gabriel was substituted as a precaution due to the injury he picked up in Lisbon. “We’re going to have a meeting this afternoon,” Arteta said on Tuesday afternoon. “We have done a training session, we will monitor and keep a few away from certain activities and after that meeting I will decide which ones are fit and available and who will start.”

Despite the injury concerns, Gabriel took to social media to reassure fans, posting “see you Wednesday” and expressing his determination to be fit for the match. Arteta acknowledged Gabriel’s post but advised fans not to read too much into it, stating, “They all want to play.”

Arsenal is currently second in the Premier League table, nine points behind leaders Liverpool, and will be hoping that Gabriel can recover in time for the match. The Gunners have been in good form, winning their last three games, and will be looking to continue their momentum against United.
