Legendary England and Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman names the ‘best goalkeeper in Premier League history’
David Seaman, a legendary figure in Arsenal’s history and one of England’s greatest goalkeepers, has given his opinion on who he believes is the best goalkeeper in Premier League history. Speaking on his Betway podcast, Seaman praised Schmeichel’s achievements and his unique style of goalkeeping.
Schmeichel, who played for Manchester United from 1991 to 1999, is widely regarded as one of the greatest shot-stoppers of all time. During his time at Old Trafford, he helped United win five Premier League titles, three FA Cups, and the Champions League. His commanding presence and acrobatic saves set him apart from his peers.
Seaman, who made over 500 appearances for Arsenal and won three league titles with the Gunners, acknowledged Schmeichel’s impact on the Premier League. “Look at what he did and what he achieved,” Seaman said. “The way he kept goal was totally different from me, both styles obviously work, but he brought a new style into the Premier League.”
Interestingly, Seaman and Schmeichel were fierce rivals during their playing days, but their mutual respect has only grown over time. Seaman’s admiration for Schmeichel’s consistency and ability to perform under pressure is evident in his comments.
