Arsenal missed the opportunity to move within four points of Liverpool at the Premier League after being held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Fulham in a hard-fought London derby at Craven Cottage on Sunday. The match saw both teams battle it out, with Fulham taking the lead early on and Arsenal equalizing through a set-piece goal.
Fulham started the game strongly and took the lead in the 11th minute. Raul Jimenez capitalized on a swift counter-attack, receiving a pass from Kenny Tete and finishing with a precise shot into the bottom corner past Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.
Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, Arsenal struggled to break down Fulham’s defense. It wasn’t until the 52nd minute that they found the equalizer. William Saliba scored from a corner, heading in Kai Havertz’s far post header after a well-delivered corner by Declan Rice.
Arsenal thought they had secured a late winner in the 88th minute when Bukayo Saka headed in a cross from Gabriel Martinelli. However, the goal was disallowed after a VAR check ruled Martinelli offside in the build-up.
The draw leaves Arsenal six points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand. While the Gunners will be disappointed not to have taken all three points, they remain in second place and will look to bounce back in their next match.
