Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg criticised Gabriel Magalhaes for copying Viktor Gyokeres’ Champions League celebration.
Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg has criticized Gabriel Magalhaes for his goal celebration during the Gunners’ 5-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Champions League.
Gabriel, who scored Arsenal’s third goal, mimicked Viktor Gyokeres’ trademark celebration by placing his interlocked fingers in front of his face.
Ljungberg, a former Arsenal player and coach, expressed his disapproval of Gabriel’s actions, calling them “disrespectful” and “unnecessary”.
“I’m not a fan of it,” Ljungberg told Viaplay. “Of course, he must have had a lot of talk about playing against Gyokeres and whether he would be able to do it. Then his point in showing that he can handle it is quite simple. But I think it’s a bit disrespectful.”
