Fabio Vieira’s loan spell with Porto continues, despite online rumors suggesting his recall, after Vitor Bruno left him out of the squad.
Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira has not been recalled from his loan spell at Porto, despite recent online speculation. The rumors began circulating after Vieira was omitted from Porto’s squad for their recent match against Boavista. However, Porto manager Vitor Bruno has clarified that Vieira’s absence was due to disciplinary reasons and not a precursor to a recall.
Vieira, who joined Arsenal in 2022 for a fee of approximately €34 million, struggled to make a significant impact at the Premier League club. As a result, he was loaned back to Porto this summer to gain more playing time and regain his form. Since his return, Vieira has made 17 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Despite his recent performances, Bruno decided to leave Vieira out of the squad for the match against Boavista. When questioned about the decision, Bruno emphasized the importance of discipline and consistency. He stated, “Fabio is very talented, but talent needs to align with certain principles. When one or two of those principles falter, it makes everything more difficult.”
Bruno further added that Vieira’s absence was not related to his recent performances and that the midfielder would be available for the next match. He also dismissed any rumors of an imminent recall, stating that Vieira would remain at Porto for the rest of the season.
The online speculation was fueled by reports of a private jet departing Porto for London, but Bruno clarified that no such decision had been made by Arsenal. He reiterated that Vieira remains a part of Porto’s plans and is expected to continue contributing to the team’s success.
