Former Arsenal youth striker Billy Vigar is in an induced coma after suffering a devastating head injury while playing for non-league side Chichester City. The 21-year-old collided with a concrete wall during a match against Wingate and Finchley, leaving fans and teammates in shock.
According to The Sun, the accident occurred just minutes into the Isthmian League game. Vigar attempted to keep the ball in play but slipped on the wet surface, crashing head-first into a concrete barrier. Medical staff rushed to his aid as the game was immediately stopped. He was treated on the pitch before being airlifted to a London hospital for intensive care.

Chichester City released a statement confirming that Billy Vigar suffered a serious brain injury and is currently in an induced coma:
“Billy received a significant brain injury and is currently in intensive care receiving the best possible treatment. It is too early to say what the outcome will be and even if things go well, there will be a long road to recovery ahead. Love from the whole of the CCFC family Billy.”
Doctors have stressed that his recovery will take time, even under the best circumstances.

Vigar joined Arsenal’s academy in 2017 and progressed through the youth ranks. In 2022, he signed his first professional contract but did not make a senior appearance for the Gunners. He impressed at youth level, recording four goals and two assists in the 2021–22 U18 Premier League season.
