Thomas Partey charge again as ex-Arsenal midfielder faces two new rape allegations in expanding legal case
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey faces fresh legal trouble after authorities charge him with two additional counts of rape, deepening the serious case surrounding the 32-year-old footballer.
The new charges form part of a separate complaint reported in August 2025. The allegations relate to incidents dating back to 2020 and involve a fourth alleged victim, expanding an already complex investigation.
Partey, who now plays for Villarreal after leaving Arsenal on a free transfer in June 2025, already faces multiple serious accusations.
In July 2025, prosecutors charged him with five counts of rape involving two women and one count of sexual assault involving a third woman.
He pleaded not guilty to those charges at Southwark Crown Court in September 2025.
A trial linked to the original allegations is scheduled to begin on 2 November 2026.
Fresh investigation leads to new counts
The Crown Prosecution Service authorised the new charges following a further investigation by the Metropolitan Police.
As a result, Partey will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 13 March 2026 to answer the latest accusations.
He remains on conditional bail. The conditions allow him to continue his football career, including international duty with Ghana, provided he informs authorities before any overseas travel.
Reports from Telegraph indicate that the earlier charges relate to alleged incidents that occurred between 2021 and 2022, during Partey’s time as an Arsenal player.
The latest allegations extend the timeline back to 2020, creating a broader legal case that now spans several years and multiple complainants.
Football career background
Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 in a £45 million transfer, which made him the most expensive Ghanaian footballer in history at the time.
He spent five seasons at the club, making 130 Premier League appearances and winning the FA Community Shield in 2023.
Villarreal signed him in the summer of 2025 on a two-year deal, despite public awareness of his legal situation and reported fan opposition.
