Former Arsenal star Anders Limpar claims he would love to see Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres take the next big step in his career by making a ‘crazy’ move to Arsenal.
Former Arsenal and Sweden midfielder Anders Limpar has expressed his enthusiasm for seeing Viktor Gyokeres, the Sporting sensation, make a move to Arsenal. Limpar, who once mentored Gyokeres at Brommapojkarna, believes that the striker’s next step should be to join the Premier League club.
Gyokeres has been making waves with his extraordinary goalscoring exploits in Portugal, scoring 23 goals in just 18 appearances this season. His impressive performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain. With a release clause of £83 million, it is rumored that Sporting might be willing to negotiate for as low as £63 million.
Limpar, who won the 1990/91 first division title with Arsenal, has a personal connection with Gyokeres and has spoken highly of the forward’s work ethic and determination. Limpar told FotbollDirekt, “He is a very hard-working attacker who scores a lot of goals.” “If we at Arsenal [were to] buy Gyokeres, then he will definitely call me. But then to see Gyokeres at Arsenal, that would be crazy.”
Gyokeres’ ability to score against top teams, such as his hat-trick against Manchester City, has shown that he is capable of performing in the Premier League. Limpar is confident that Gyokeres could make the transition and succeed in England, given his previous experience with Coventry City and his understanding of the English mentality.
The potential move to Arsenal would not only be a significant step in Gyokeres’ career but also a nostalgic moment for Limpar, who would love to see his fellow countryman play for the Gunners. “His work rate, he runs like a madman,” Limpar added. “When it doesn’t work out for Viktor, he works his way into the game with uncomfortable runs.”
