Ethan Nwaneri continues to impress for Arsenal, stepping up in Bukayo Saka’s absence with four goals in all competitions since January. The 17-year-old midfielder has played over 1,000 minutes this season, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 28 appearances. His standout performances have sparked speculation about a possible inclusion in Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad.

Keown Urges Caution Over International Duties

Speaking to The Sun, Martin Keown expressed concern over Nwaneri’s readiness for international football. He argued that the teenager needs more time to develop physically and mentally before facing the pressures of senior-level competition.

Keown observed signs of fatigue in Nwaneri’s recent matches and emphasized that such tiredness is normal for players his age. He warned that an early England call-up could negatively impact Nwaneri’s confidence and physical health.

Keown Recommends Rest Over Recognition

Keown advised Arsenal to manage Nwaneri’s workload carefully. He suggested that the upcoming international break would be a better opportunity for the youngster to rest and train under Mikel Arteta, rather than join the England squad.

Keown also highlighted Myles Lewis-Skelly as a more suitable candidate for a senior England call-up. He praised Lewis-Skelly’s physical maturity and suggested he could fill the left-back role, especially with Luke Shaw and Lewis Hall sidelined due to injury.

Despite Keown’s concerns, Ethan Nwaneri’s future looks promising. With proper guidance and careful management, the young midfielder could evolve into a key figure for both Arsenal and England in the years ahead.
