Former Arsenal ace Emile Smith Rowe has opened up about the challenging decision to leave Arsenal for Fulham during the summer transfer window. In an emotional interview with The Telegraph, Smith Rowe described it as the “toughest decision” he has ever had to make.
Smith Rowe joined Arsenal’s Hale End academy at the age of 10 and spent over a decade with the club. He made his senior debut in 2018 and went on to make over 100 appearances for the first team. Despite showcasing his promise with some outstanding performances, recurring injuries hindered his progress in recent seasons.
Reflecting on his decision, Smith Rowe explained that the lack of playing time and the desire to find happiness again were the main factors behind his move. “I can’t remember an exact moment, but for the last two seasons, I haven’t played as much as I wanted to,” he shared. “It was always in the back of my mind that I wanted to be happy again.”
Smith Rowe emphasized the importance of considering his well-being and future. “Sometimes you have to prioritize what’s best for yourself,” he added. “I always want to put my club first, but at the same time, I have to make myself happy. It was probably the toughest decision I’ve had to make, but I spoke to my family, and we decided it was the best thing for me.”
Since joining Fulham, Smith Rowe has made an immediate impact. He has started six of Fulham’s seven Premier League matches this season, scoring twice and providing one assist. His performances have brought a fresh energy to Marco Silva’s side, quickly making him a fan favorite at Craven Cottage.
Smith Rowe’s journey from Arsenal to Fulham is a testament to his resilience and determination. As he continues to excel at his new club, fans are excited to see what the future holds for this promising young talent.
