Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the injuries sustained by Gabriel Magalhães and Jurrien Timber in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. Both players were forced off the pitch in the second half, adding to Arsenal’s defensive concerns.
Arsenal are currently accessing the injuries sustained by Gabriel and Jurrien Timber, according to The Athletic. Gabriel went down in the 50th minute and received treatment on the pitch. He attempted to continue but went down again three minutes later and was replaced by Jakub Kiwior. Arteta commented on Gabriel’s injury, saying, “I don’t know but he can’t run. I don’t know if it was his knee or his ankle. He is being assessed right now.”
Timber, who had been an injury doubt before the match, went down in the 72nd minute and tried to continue but was substituted off for Myles Lewis-Skelly after just four minutes. Arteta praised Timber’s willingness to play, saying, “We’ve done everything we could to accelerate the process. He was so willing. The medical staff did amazing work. I don’t know the extent of the injury, if there is one.
The injuries to Gabriel and Timber forced Arteta to name his sixth different back four of the Premier League season. Despite the challenges, Arsenal managed to secure a point against Liverpool. Arteta expressed his frustration with the injuries but remained optimistic about the team’s position in the league
