Crystal Palace is interested in signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. The player’s proposed transfer to Nottingham Forest fell through, leading Palace to explore the possibility of signing him.

A deal for up to £30 million was previously in place between Arsenal and Nottingham Forest for the Englishman. However, an agreement could not be reached with Nketiah himself, and Forest is now focusing on signing Feyenoord’s Santiago Giménez instead. Crystal Palace has a “long-standing admiration” for Nketiah and had already spoken to him about a potential move earlier in the summer.

Nketiah, who saw a potential deal collapse to Olympique Marseille this month, is still expected to leave The Emirates Stadium before the transfer window closes. He seeks more game time than he has received under Mikel Arteta since he signed a contract extension at Arsenal two years ago.

Crystal Palace has struggled in front of goal this season, having scored only an own-goal in their losses to Brentford and West Ham. With Jean-Philippe Mateta as their primary striker, Palace aims to strengthen their attacking options by adding Nketiah to their squad.
