Cristhian Mosquera, the talented Spanish defender, has opened up about his recent move from Valencia to Arsenal. While excited about joining the Premier League giants, Arsenal, Cristhian Mosquera admitted he hoped the transfer process would have been handled differently.

In July, Arsenal signed Mosquera for an initial fee of £13 million, with potential add-ons bringing the total to £20 million. The 21-year-old had spent nearly a decade at Valencia CF, developing into one of Spain’s most promising young defenders.

Valencia’s official statement claimed Mosquera had “unequivocally expressed” his desire not to renew his contract, sparking debate among fans and pundits.

Mosquera Shares His Thoughts

Speaking to Cadena SER, Mosquera expressed mixed emotions:

 “When you leave what has been your home, you would like everything to be a little different. Both the statement and the things that came out. I’m never going to speak badly of Valencia because I’m a Valencianista and it’s a club that has given me everything.”

He added that while the situation was not ideal, players must sometimes prioritize their careers.

Despite the controversy, Arsenal welcomed Mosquera with high praise. Sporting director Andrea Berta described him as “one of the strongest young defenders in European football.” Manager Mikel Arteta highlighted Mosquera’s versatility, speed, and tactical intelligence.

Mosquera has already made an impact, stepping in during a match against Liverpool after William Saliba suffered an early injury.

Although the transfer wasn’t as smooth as Mosquera had hoped, his future at Arsenal looks bright. His maturity and performance on the pitch suggest he’s ready to thrive in the Premier League.
