William Saliba commits to Arsenal with a new long-term contract until 2030, reinforcing Arteta’s defence and the club’s future ambitions.
Arsenal have officially confirmed that French defender William Saliba has signed a new long-term contract with the club. The deal will keep the 24-year-old centre-back at the Emirates Stadium until the summer of 2030, ending speculation about interest from European giants such as Real Madrid.
Since making his competitive debut in August 2022, William Saliba has become a key player for Arsenal under Mikel Arteta. The French international has played every single Premier League match of the 2023/24 season and has already made 140 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals.
His composure on the ball, intelligence, and physical strength have made him one of the best defenders in world football. His excellence has been recognised with three consecutive PFA Team of the Year selections and a place in The Best FIFA Men’s 11 in 2024.
Saliba Delighted to Extend Arsenal Contract
Speaking after signing his new contract, William Saliba described his happiness at staying with Arsenal:
“I feel at home. We have a good team, a good squad, and great staff. The coach is perfect for me, so it’s the best place to be. I enjoy every day when I wear this shirt. I try to give everything, and now I’ll give even more to this club and to the fans.”
Manager Mikel Arteta hailed Saliba’s importance to Arsenal’s success:
“William is loved by all the players and staff, and that speaks volumes about his character, commitment, and attitude every day. He has grown so much, embraced responsibility, and created a strong connection with our supporters.”
Sporting director Andrea Berta also praised the defender, calling him “one of the best in the world” and a vital part of Arsenal’s long-term vision.
