Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira has rejoined FC Porto on a season-long loan for the 2024/25 campaign. The 24-year-old is returning to a familiar ground, having progressed through Porto’s youth academy before moving on to the Premier League.

Fabio Vieira joined Arsenal in June 2022 from Porto for a fee of around £34.3 million. During his time with the Gunners, Vieira made 49 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing nine assists. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, including a memorable goal in a 3-0 win against Brentford and a decisive penalty in the 2023 FA Community Shield, Vieira struggled to secure a consistent starting position under Mikel Arteta.

The loan move to Porto is seen as an opportunity for Vieira to gain more regular playing time and continue his development. Porto, who recently saw Francisco Conceicao leave for Juventus, will benefit from Vieira’s versatility and creativity in midfield. The deal does not include an option or obligation for Porto to make the transfer permanent next summer, indicating that Arsenal still sees potential in Vieira for the future.
