Arsenal Star Reveal Exit Plan, Eyes Return to Boyhood Club

Christian Norgaard exit plans from Arsenal have been made public, with the Danish midfielder confirming that his time at the Emirates will be brief. He revealed that once his contract ends, he intends to return to his boyhood club Brøndby, marking the final chapter of his career abroad.

The Danish midfielder joined Arsenal from Brentford in July for a fee of up to £15 million, but he has struggled to secure regular minutes under Mikel Arteta.

Speaking to Bold.dk, Norgaard made his intentions clear:

“I can guarantee that Arsenal will be my last club abroad. I still want to return to Brøndby when my contract at Arsenal expires.”

Limited Opportunities at Arsenal

Since arriving in North London, Christian Norgaard has featured just twice for Arsenal:

He played the full 90 minutes in the 2–0 Carabao Cup win over Port Vale.

He made a brief appearance during the Champions League victory against Athletic Bilbao.

The 31-year-old is yet to make a Premier League debut, often named among the substitutes without getting game time. Despite joining a Champions League-contending side, his lack of minutes has prompted an early look toward the future.

Norgaard’s Emotional Brøndby Connection

Norgaard’s current contract runs for two years with an option for a third, potentially keeping him at Arsenal until 2028. However, he reiterated that he intends to finish his career in Denmark, where his football journey began.

Brøndby holds a special place in Norgaard’s heart. Between 2013 and 2018, he made over 150 appearances, won the Danish Cup, and earned the Player of the Year award in 2017. His successful spell helped him move to Fiorentina, before joining Brentford, where he became one of the Premier League’s most reliable midfielders.

While Norgaard’s Arsenal exit plan might seem premature, it reflects a player aware of his career stage and personal ambitions. With Mikel Arteta continuing to strengthen Arsenal’s midfield depth, competition for places remains fierce.

Norgaard could still play a role in domestic cup competitions or serve as a mentor to Arsenal’s younger players. His experience, professionalism, and leadership make him a valuable figure in the dressing room, even if his on-field minutes are limited.

Still, it’s clear that his long-term future lies back home. For Norgaard, the dream ending isn’t at the Emirates — it’s at Brøndby Stadium, where his career began.
