Chelsea Reject WestHam Bid for Santos Amid Arsenal Interest

Chelsea reject Santos bid from West Ham as the Blues remain firm on their valuation of the Brazilian midfielder, despite growing interest from Arsenal.

Chelsea reportedly reject a £42 million bid from West Ham United for Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, reaffirming their commitment to the 21-year-old talent despite mounting interest from Premier League rivals, including Arsenal.

The bid from West Ham comes as the Hammers look to strengthen their midfield following a disappointing 3–0 loss to newly-promoted Sunderland. However, Chelsea swiftly rejected the offer, reportedly valuing Santos closer to £50 million. Sources within the club suggest that Santos is considered a key part of manager Enzo Maresca’s long-term strategy, and they are not open to negotiations at this stage.

Santos joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in 2023 but struggled to make an impact during a brief loan spell at Nottingham Forest. His fortunes changed dramatically during the 2024–25 season with Strasbourg, Chelsea’s affiliate club in France, where he scored 11 goals in 34 Ligue 1 appearances. His performances have reignited interest from top European clubs, including Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has praised Santos’ potential but emphasized the need for patience as the midfielder adapts to the club’s tactical demands. Santos featured in four matches during Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign, mostly as a substitute, but showed glimpses of his quality.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Santos expressed his desire to succeed at Stamford Bridge:

“Everyone knows about my love, my desire to play for Chelsea. I think Enzo Maresca was very sincere with me, and I liked that sincerity.”

Arsenal’s Approach

Arsenal reportedly made an informal approach for Santos earlier in the summer, but Chelsea were equally dismissive. The Gunners are believed to be monitoring his situation, though no formal bid has been submitted.

With the transfer window nearing its close, West Ham may consider returning with an improved offer. However, Chelsea’s firm stance suggests Santos is not for sale. The midfielder could face West Ham next Friday in what promises to be a compelling fixture—especially given the recent transfer drama.
