Jamie Gittens Transfer: Chelsea Open Talks for £50m Dortmund Winger
Chelsea have officially entered negotiations for the Jamie Gittens transfer, aiming to secure the Borussia Dortmund winger for £50m according to The Telegraph. The 20-year-old, who once trained in Chelsea’s academy, has also attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. With the Club World Cup approaching, the Blues are eager to finalize the deal swiftly.
Gittens made his senior debut for Dortmund in 2022 and has since amassed over 100 appearances in all competitions. His most recent season was his most prolific yet, scoring 12 goals in 48 appearances. However, his playing time diminished in the latter half of the campaign, with only three Bundesliga starts since February.
Chelsea are keen to finalize the transfer before the Club World Cup begins on June 14 in the United States, where both Chelsea and Dortmund will be competing. The Blues are looking to move swiftly to beat Arsenal and Liverpool to the signing, as both clubs remain interested in strengthening their attacking options.
While Arsenal’s priority this summer is securing a new striker, they are also exploring options for a winger, including Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane. Liverpool, on the other hand, are working on a deal for Florian Wirtz but may shift focus to a winger following speculation about Luis Diaz’s potential departure.
Chelsea’s transfer activity is in full swing, with the club already securing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £30m. The future of Jadon Sancho, who was on loan from Manchester United, remains uncertain, as Chelsea must decide whether to activate their £20m–£25m purchase obligation or pay a £5m penalty if he returns to Old Trafford.
With negotiations underway, Chelsea are pushing to finalize the deal quickly. If successful, Gittens could be a key addition to their squad ahead of the Club World Cup and the upcoming Premier League season.
