Jamie Carragher Warns Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres with Bold Prediction

Jamie Carragher Arsenal Prediction for Viktor Gyokeres Sparks Debate Over Striker’s Role

Arsenal’s new striker Viktor Gyokeres has received a strong warning from football pundit Jamie Carragher. The former Liverpool defender shared a controversial opinion about the Swedish forward’s future at the Emirates, sparking debate among fans and analysts.

Arsenal signed Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon for £64 million during the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old arrived with an impressive record, scoring 97 goals in 102 games in Portugal. Many fans hoped he would be the final piece in Arsenal’s title challenge.

Carragher’s Hot Take on Gyokeres

Jamie Carragher voiced his doubts on The Overlap, saying:

“We’ve only seen him for three games and he’s got two goals, but he’s not the easiest on the eye, is he? I’m still convinced that when Kai Havertz is fit, he will play in the biggest games. That’s my hot take.”

Carragher compared Gyokeres to Romelu Lukaku and Darwin Núñez—two strikers who struggled after moving from other leagues to the Premier League. He questioned whether Gyokeres has the technical quality and presence needed for Arsenal’s system.

Is Gyokeres the Right Fit for Arsenal?

Despite scoring twice in a 5–1 win over Leeds United, Gyokeres struggled in matches against Manchester United and Liverpool. His performances raised concerns about his ability to adapt to the pace and physicality of English football.

Carragher believes that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta may prefer Kai Havertz in key matches once the German returns from injury. Havertz is expected to be back in action within a month.

Gyokeres must prove himself quickly to secure a starting role in Arsenal’s biggest games. With high expectations and a hefty price tag, the pressure is on. Carragher’s warning adds fuel to the debate about whether Gyokeres can thrive in the Premier League.
