Nørgaard transfer deal confirmed as Brentford clear the path for Arsenal’s midfield reinforcement with a £15m agreement.
Brentford’s director have delivered a significant update on the future of their midfield stalwart, as Christian Nørgaard transfer deal confirmed, with Arsenal edge closer to securing the Danish international in a £15 million deal.
Brentford’s director of football, Phil Giles, confirmed that Arsenal initiated contact in recent weeks and that negotiations have advanced swiftly. A package worth £15 million—comprising a £10 million base fee and £5 million in performance-related add-ons—has reportedly been accepted.
“As it stands, it’s more likely to happen than not,” Giles told Sky Sports. “We have to go through the full process, tick all the boxes, and we’ll see at the end of it”.
Mikel Arteta is reshaping Arsenal’s midfield following the departures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey, both of whom left on free transfers. While Arsenal have already wrapped up a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, Nørgaard’s Premier League experience made him a priority target.
The 31-year-old Dane is expected to undergo a medical this week, with personal terms not anticipated to be a stumbling block.
Nørgaard has been a cornerstone of Brentford’s rise since joining in 2019, making 196 appearances and contributing 13 goals and 18 assists across all competitions. Giles praised the midfielder’s impact and leadership, stating:
“He’s been a fantastic player for us. I’m actually happy for him—he’s earned the opportunity at this stage of his career to try and win some trophies”.
Brentford are now preparing to fill the leadership void his departure would create, with attention turning to other senior figures in the squad.
