Arsenal are very close to reaching an agreement with Real Sociedad to sign Mikel Merino, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners has already ironed out personal terms with Merino, and a formal offer has been submitted. The total package for the transfer amounts to €25.2 million (approximately £30million), which is a bargain considering Merino’s quality and experience. The 28-year-old midfielder, who had also been wanted by Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, has been destined to leave Donostia-San Sebastian this summer as he has no plans to extend his contract, which expires in 2025.
