Arsenal are very close to reaching an agreement with Real Sociedad to sign Mikel Merino, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners has already ironed out personal terms with Merino, and a formal offer has been submitted. The total package for the transfer amounts to €25.2 million (approximately £30million), which is a bargain considering Merino’s quality and experience. The Spain international is eager to join Arsenal, where he will reunite with former teammate Martin Odegaard in a dynamic midfield combo
The 28-year-old midfielder, who had also been wanted by Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, has been destined to leave Donostia-San Sebastian this summer as he has no plans to extend his contract, which expires in 2025.
Real Sociedad will give the green light in the coming days. They’re already working on a replacement, with a deal to sign Carlos Soler from Paris Saint-Germain currently on the cards, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano
