Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko is eager to depart the club in the January transfer window amidst interest from Borussia Dortmund.
German transfer expert Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Borussia Dortmund is in advanced talks with Oleksandr Zinchenko regarding a potential loan move, which could include an obligation to buy at the end of the season. The 28-year-old Ukrainian left-back has expressed his desire to leave Arsenal, and Dortmund is keen to secure his services.
Zinchenko has struggled for regular game time at Arsenal this season, making just seven Premier League appearances. With the emergence of other players in his position, such as Jakub Kiwior and Kieran Tierney, Zinchenko has found himself down the pecking order. His contract situation, with just 18 months remaining, has also contributed to his desire to seek new opportunities.
Borussia Dortmund has shown consistent interest in Zinchenko, having previously explored a move for him during the summer transfer window. The club sees him as a valuable addition to their squad, given his versatility and experience in top-tier European football.
The proposed deal would see Zinchenko join Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the season, with an obligation to buy for a fee of around €20 million. Arsenal is reportedly open to this arrangement, as it would help them offload Zinchenko’s high wages and provide financial flexibility.
The potential move to Borussia Dortmund could be a win-win for both parties, giving Zinchenko the regular playing time he desires and bolstering Dortmund’s squad depth.
