Arsenal defender Ben White has undergone surgery to treat a severe knee problem that has hampering him for several months. The 27-year-old underwent a minor procedure during the international break, aiming to resolve the discomfort that has limited his performance.

White has been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks, managing only limited minutes in key matches. Despite his efforts, the issue persisted, leading to the decision for surgery. As a result, White is now expected to be out of action until the New Year, missing a significant portion of Arsenal’s fixtures.

The timing of White’s surgery is particularly challenging for manager Mikel Arteta, who is already dealing with a spate of injuries to key players. With defenders Riccardo Calafiori, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Kieran Tierney all currently out with injuries, and Gabriel and William Saliba only recently returning from their own injury troubles, Arsenal’s defensive lineup is severely depleted. The Gunners are also without Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice, who have withdrawn from international duty due to injuries.

Arteta expressed his frustration with the ongoing injury crisis, describing the past few weeks as a “nightmare” and emphasizing the need for his players to stay fit. The Gunners face a busy schedule in the coming weeks, including matches against Nottingham Forest, Sporting Lisbon, West Ham, and Manchester United.

Despite the setbacks, Arteta remains hopeful that his team can navigate through this challenging period and return to winning ways. The Gunners will be looking to their remaining squad members to step up and fill the void left by their injured players.

As Arsenal continues to battle through their injury crisis, all eyes will be on White’s recovery and the team’s ability to maintain their performance levels without him. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether Arsenal can overcome these obstacles and stay competitive in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
