Barcelona have Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey on their radar, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a shock summer transfer for Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey as the Ghanaian’s contract extension remains uncertain. The Catalan giants are considering making a move for the 31-year-old midfielder, who has been a key player for Arsenal since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2020.
Partey’s current deal with Arsenal is set to expire at the end of the season, and negotiations for a contract extension have reportedly stalled. Despite his impactful performances and consistency when fit, Arsenal has yet to finalize a new deal. This has left Partey’s future at the club hanging in the balance, with the possibility of him negotiating with other clubs from January 1, 2025.
Barcelona, under the management of Hansi Flick, is looking to bolster their midfield and Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona hold Partey in high regard and have included him on their list of summer transfer targets.
The club’s financial situation means they are likely to focus on free transfer deals, and Partey is a standout candidate. Barcelona is reportedly considering selling Frenkie de Jong and sees Partey as a suitable replacement.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his desire to keep Partey at the club, highlighting his importance to the team. However, with the uncertainty surrounding his contract, Arsenal may need to act swiftly to secure his future or risk losing him to Barcelona or other interested clubs.
