The Gunners secured a crucial 2-0 victory. Leandro Trossard’s first-touch goal and Thomas Partey’s late effort sealed the win for Arsenal. Despite some nervous moments, they came away with three vital points.

The match featured a standout moment when Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made an incredible save to deny Ollie Watkins, preserving the scoreline at 0-0. Despite a lackluster first half, Arsenal eventually took control of the game.

Here’s our player ratings.

David Raya (GK): 7/10
Made a spectacular one-handed save when Watkins threatened with a header. Dealt well with any Villa crosses.

Ben White (RB): 6/10:
Operated effectively down the right and was solid in one-on-one duels.

William Saliba (CB): 7/10
Made a terrific first-half interception and handled Watkins effectively. His recovery run and tackle denied Jacob Ramsey.

Gabriel (CB): 6/10
Nearly cost his team a goal by hesitating on the ball. His partnership with Saliba was largely impressive.

Jurrien Timber (LB): 7/10
Inverted right into the centre circle when Arsenal was in possession. Didn’t always manage to keep Bailey quiet but was often effective in his one-on-one defending.

Thomas Partey (CM): 8/10
He never stopped making those powerful efforts from the edge of the box and this one paid off. Coped well with Morgan Rogers’s threat.

Declan Rice (CM): 6/10
Struggled against Rogers’s powerful runs. He should have had an assist, but Odegaard missed the chance.

Martin Odegaard: (CM) 7/10
His through ball to Saka was crucial in setting up the first goal. Should have added a third late on with a decent chance blazed over the bar.

Involved in the first goal. Then provided the assist for the second.

Kai Havertz (CF): 5/10
squandered two excellent chances in the first half, but helped set up the first goal.
