Arsenal triple injury blow rocks Arteta’s plans as Havertz, White, and Norgaard face fitness doubts ahead of crucial Premier League clash vs Leeds.
Arsenal have been dealt a triple injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Leeds United, as Mikel Arteta confirmed that Kai Havertz, Ben White, and Christian Norgaard are all facing fitness concerns
Kai Havertz, has been ruled out of Saturday’s fixture due to a knee issue. The German international, who recently returned from a hamstring injury, complained of discomfort following Arsenal’s win over Manchester United. He was absent from the club’s open training session earlier this week, prompting further medical assessments.
Arteta addressed the situation candidly:
“He’s certainly not fit for this match. We don’t really know yet the extent of it. We need a bit more time and some more tests, and after that we will have more clarity about the next steps”.
Despite the setback, Arteta praised Havertz’s mental strength, noting that the player remains in good spirits:
“He’s a joy of a kid… mentally, he’s in a good place because he’s a really strong boy, very committed”.
Additional Injury Concerns
Arsenal’s injury list doesn’t stop with Havertz. Christian Norgaard, a summer signing, is also ruled out due to a minor issue. Arteta confirmed that Norgaard will be unavailable for “another week or so”.
Meanwhile, Ben White remains a doubt. The defender was substituted during the Manchester United clash and missed training sessions this week. Arteta stated,
“With Ben, let’s see how he reacts and decide”.
Jurrien Timber, who is recovering from ankle surgery, is being carefully managed and may not feature heavily as the club eases him back into full fitness.
In light of Havertz’s injury, Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, though Arteta declined to comment on any potential transfers, saying:
“I can never talk about anything that’s not part of our group or club yet”.
With key players sidelined and squad depth being tested, Arsenal will need to dig deep to maintain their early-season form. The clash against Leeds could prove to be a litmus test for Arteta’s tactical flexibility and the resilience of his squad.
