The Brazilian is expected to be sidelined for extended period with suspected ACL injury.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a worrying update on Gabriel Jesus’s knee injury, stating that it’s “not looking good at all.” Jesus was stretchered off during Arsenal’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester United after a collision with Bruno Fernandes, and initial tests suggest a suspected anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture.
Jesus was in considerable pain and had to be carried off the pitch, touching his knee throughout. Arteta confirmed that the injury is to the opposite knee from the one Jesus injured at the 2022 World Cup, but the severity remains a major concern.
Arteta expressed his worry, saying, “Big worry, that’s my feeling. He had to come off on a stretcher with a lot of pain, touching his knee. It’s not looking good.” The manager also mentioned that they are awaiting a final report from a specialist to confirm the extent of the injury.
Jesus’s absence is a significant blow to Arsenal, who are already dealing with injuries to key players like Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri. The club is now considering their options in the January transfer window to bring in a replacement, with an overseas loan looking like the most viable solution.
The news of Jesus’s injury has sent shockwaves through the Arsenal camp, and Arteta’s update has only added to the concern. The club will need to act quickly to find a suitable replacement to maintain their title challenge.
