Mikel Arteta has offered cautious optimism in his latest injury update ahead of Wolves clash, revealing that Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, Leandro Trossard and William Saliba are all close to returning to action.

Speaking to the media ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League meeting with Wolves at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta suggested the quartet are progressing well, although none are guaranteed to feature this weekend.

Rice missed Arsenal’s midweek Champions League win over Club Brugge due to illness, but Arteta confirmed the midfielder is edging nearer to a comeback.

The Arsenal boss admitted Rice will be assessed again, raising hopes he could be involved against Wolves. His return would provide a timely boost after Arsenal’s recent defeat to Aston Villa.

Jurrien Timber and Leandro Trossard Nearing Fitness

In his injury update ahead of Wolves tie, Arteta grouped Timber and Trossard together, describing both absences as short-term issues.

Timber sat out midweek after picking up a knock, while Trossard was also unavailable with a minor problem. Arteta stressed both situations are measured in days rather than weeks, though their availability remains uncertain.

Saliba has missed Arsenal’s last three matches and remains the biggest doubt. Arteta confirmed the defender is improving but stopped short of guaranteeing his return against Wolves.

The Frenchman’s absence has tested Arsenal’s defensive depth, making his potential comeback a major talking point.

What It Means for Arsenal

Arsenal remain top of the Premier League and will be eager to respond after their Villa Park setback. While Rice appears the most likely to return, Timber and Trossard are close, and Saliba may need slightly longer.

Arteta’s injury update ultimately delivers cautious encouragement — reinforcements are coming, even if not all arrive this weekend.
