Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his excitement and determination to build on last season’s successes. Speaking ahead of their opening match against Wolves, Arteta emphasized the need for continuous improvement to challenge for the title once again.
Arteta revealed that the squad is hungry for more success and is driven by the ambition to surpass last season’s achievements. “We are really excited,” Arteta said. “We’ve been missing the competition for many weeks, it’s too long for us. We are so willing to start and so enthusiastic about it”. The manager highlighted the players’ commitment and desire to push themselves to new heights, stating that they are eager to break more records.
Despite a strong finish last season, where Arsenal won 16 of their last 18 league games, Arteta acknowledged that the competition is getting tougher. “With the level that we are competing with, every season is getting harder. We are going to have to improve again for sure”. He stressed the importance of maintaining high standards and continuously seeking ways to enhance performance both on and off the pitch.
Last season saw Arsenal break numerous club records, including the most Premier League wins and the most clean sheets. However, silverware remained elusive, and Arteta is determined to change that this time around. “When you see everything that we are doing and everybody is so enthusiastic about it, that willingness to improve, to get better, to keep pushing each other, to look for higher ceilings. What I think everybody needs is motivating every day, something new to look”.
Arteta has been impressed with the sharpness of his squad during pre-season and believes they are ready to hit the ground running. “The team has looked really sharp, really at it and desperate to play”. He also mentioned that the players have been driving the ambition themselves, which is a positive sign for the upcoming campaign.
