Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka has undergone a procedure for his hamstring injury, a significant injury blow for Arsenal.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Bukayo Saka has undergone surgery for a hamstring injury, which is expected to keep the winger sidelined for more than two months. This news comes as a significant blow to Arsenal’s title hopes, as Saka has been a key player for the team this season.
Saka sustained the injury during Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace on December 21, 2024. He was forced off the pitch early in the match and was later diagnosed with a torn hamstring. Initially, there were fears that the injury could rule him out until March, but Arteta has now confirmed that the recovery period will extend beyond two months.
Arteta provided an update after Arsenal’s recent 1-0 win over Ipswich, stating, “He had a procedure, everything went well but unfortunately he will be out for many, many weeks.” The exact duration of Saka’s absence will depend on how the scar tissue heals and his mobility in the coming weeks.
The absence of Saka, who has contributed nine goals and 13 assists this season, will undoubtedly be felt by the team. Arteta emphasized the importance of the team’s collective effort to compensate for Saka’s loss, saying, “We have to rely on the team, that’s the biggest strength of us.”
