Southampton have made progress in their pursuit of Arsenal’s goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale. The negotiations between the two clubs have reportedly progressed well, with both sides optimistic about reaching an agreement soon according to Fabrizio Romano.
Aaron Ramsdale, who joined Arsenal in 2021, has been a key player for the Gunners. However, Ramsdale lost his place to David Raya. This situation has opened the door for other clubs to express interest in the talented goalkeeper.
Southampton’s interest in Ramsdale intensified after Wolves pulled out of the race due to the high costs involved in the deal. The Saints initially considered a move for Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow but turned their attention back to Ramsdale after Bijlow failed his medical.
The current discussions suggest that Southampton prefers a loan deal with an option to buy, while Arsenal initially demanded an obligation to buy. The total package for Ramsdale is estimated to be around £20 million, with personal terms also being a crucial factor in the negotiations.
