Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium has significantly bolstered their position at the top of the table. Mohamed Salah was instrumental in the victory, scoring the opening goal and assisting Dominik Szoboszlai for the second. This result has widened the gap between Liverpool and Arsenal to 11 points, with Liverpool having played one more game.

Arsenal’s title aspirations took a hit earlier in the weekend when they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham. This loss left them eight points behind Liverpool before the Reds’ victory over City. Wenger acknowledged the uphill battle Arsenal faces, stating, “If Liverpool win today, they’ve lost only one game since the start of the season, and you wouldn’t think they would lose four in the last 11”.

Despite the daunting challenge, Wenger urged Arsenal fans to keep hope alive. He emphasized that while Liverpool are the clear favorites, the unpredictable nature of football means that anything is possible. Arsenal will need to capitalize on any slip-ups by Liverpool and maintain a near-perfect run in their remaining fixtures to have a chance at lifting the trophy.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on both Liverpool and Arsenal to see how the title race unfolds. Liverpool’s next match is against Newcastle United, while Arsenal will travel to Nottingham Forest. The Gunners will need to regroup and focus on securing maximum points in their upcoming games to keep their title hopes alive.
