Arsenal Urged to Pursue Unfairly Treated City Star Amid Exit Rumors

Jack Grealish’s Arsenal transfer talk heats up as the Gunners are tipped to land the fringed Manchester City midfielder this summer.

Arsenal have been encouraged to make a bold move for Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish, who appears to be on the fringes of Pep Guardiola’s plans. The 29-year-old England international, who was once the most expensive player in Premier League history, is reportedly available for around £40 million, with Grealish’s Arsenal transfer rumours heating up.

Grealish’s time at City has been a rollercoaster. After helping the club secure a historic treble in the 2022/23 season, his influence has waned. Last season, he started just seven Premier League matches and was left out of the squad for the Club World Cup and the FA Cup final. Former Scotland defender Colin Hendry believes Grealish has been “unfairly treated” and sees Arsenal as an ideal destination for the creative midfielder.

“Jack is a player I’ve followed for a long time,” Hendry told Coin Poker. “He’s been a scapegoat sometimes, but he’s an excellent footballer. I think Arsenal could benefit from his flair since they need more creativity”.

However, not everyone is convinced. Former striker Tony Cascarino has suggested that Arsenal should instead target Grealish’s teammate Phil Foden, citing a stronger connection with manager Mikel Arteta and a potentially higher ceiling. Meanwhile, pundit Darren Bent has voiced support for a Grealish move, but only as a rotational option behind Gabriel Martinelli, not a replacement.

Arsenal’s transfer strategy this summer is focused on bolstering their attacking options, particularly on the left flank. With other targets like Nico Williams reportedly leaning toward Barcelona, Real Madrid Rodrigo is also on Arsenal list of targets but Grealish could emerge as a cheaper alternative if the Gunners are willing to take the gamble.
