Ally McCoist suggests three strikers option for Arsenal to sign ahead of Viktor Gyokeres, a key transfer target for the Gunners.

Arsenal’s pursuit of a new striker has taken center stage in the footballing world, with Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres emerging as a top transfer target. However, Scotland legend Ally McCoist has voiced his reservations about Gyokeres and suggested three alternative options for the Gunners to consider.

Gyokeres, a Swedish international, has been in scintillating form for Sporting Lisbon, boasting an impressive record of 85 goals in 92 games over the past two seasons. Despite his prolific scoring, McCoist remains unconvinced by the 26-year-old, citing his lackluster stint in the Premier League with Brighton as a concern.

Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist highlighted three strikers Arsenal should prioritize over Gyokeres. First on his list is Alexander Isak, Newcastle United’s star forward. Isak has consistently impressed in the Premier League, but his hefty price tag makes him a challenging acquisition for Arsenal.

Next, McCoist pointed to Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli. Osimhen’s goal-scoring prowess and hunger to succeed make him an attractive option for Arsenal, though his form has dipped slightly compared to previous seasons.

Lastly, McCoist recommended Jean-Philippe Mateta of Crystal Palace, emphasizing his Premier League experience and ability to lead the line effectively. Mateta’s valuation of around £50 million could make him a more feasible target for Arsenal.

As Arsenal’s new sporting director Andrea Berta steps up efforts to bolster the squad, the club faces critical decisions in the transfer market. While Gyokeres remains a prominent candidate, McCoist’s suggestions offer intriguing alternatives that could shape Arsenal’s future.
