Arsenal Urged to Consider Ollie Watkins if £150m Alexander Isak Deal Falls Through

Arsenal explores striker options as Newcastle refuses to budge on Isak—could Ollie Watkins be the perfect Arsenal Striker Solution?

Arsenal has been advised to set their sights on Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins if their ambitious £150 million pursuit of Alexander Isak fails, with many believing he could be the Arsenal striker solution Arteta needs. The Gunners have long been in search of a prolific striker, and while Isak remains their top target, Newcastle United’s reluctance to sell has forced Arsenal to explore alternative options.

Football pundit Jermaine Pennant believes Watkins would be a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s system, citing his pace, goal-scoring ability, and experience in the Premier League. Watkins recently became Aston Villa’s all-time top Premier League goalscorer, further solidifying his reputation as a reliable forward.

Pennant emphasized that while Isak is the dream signing, Watkins presents a more affordable and proven option. “If they can’t splash £150m on Isak, then go and get Watkins. He’s got an eye for goal, he’s got pace, he’s an international, and I think he would work well in Arteta’s system,” Pennant told aceodds.com

Arsenal is also reportedly considering Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, but Watkins’ Premier League experience makes him a safer bet. Rio Ferdinand agreed with Pennant, stating that Watkins “deserves” a move to Arsenal based on his consistent performances and contributions to Aston Villa’s success.

With Newcastle standing firm on their valuation of Isak, Arsenal may have to rethink their strategy. Watkins, with his proven track record and adaptability, could be the ideal solution for Arteta’s attacking needs. Whether Arsenal will make a move remains to be seen, but the calls for Watkins to join the North London club are growing louder.
