Arsenal’s decision to sell Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham this summer is already being questioned by many, especially after his recent standout performance. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has made an immediate impact at Fulham, scoring three goals and providing two assists in just 13 league appearances.
Fulham manager Marco Silva is confident that Smith Rowe will become a top player, which means Arsenal’s decision to sell him may be one they live to regret. Silva praised Smith Rowe’s creativity and ability to score goals, saying, “Creative in those pocket areas, a player who will score more throughout the season – I don’t have doubts – he’s a lovely kid, a lovely boy who is going to become a man and improve.”
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, has already expressed regret over losing Smith Rowe, admitting that he feels he didn’t get the best out of him. Arteta said, “I have a feeling like ‘argh,’ that I have not got the best out of him. Obviously, a lot of things happened in that time. From my side, it was really sad, because I know how those boys feel when they are in that building, how hard everyone works to get them close to the first team, so I feel a huge responsibility to give them the chance.
With Smith Rowe’s impressive performances at Fulham, it’s clear that Arsenal may have let go of a player who could have made a significant difference to their squad. The Gunners will face Fulham on December 8, providing a chance for Smith Rowe to show his former club what they are missing out on.
