Arsenal target Akliouche Monaco’s young star as Arteta aims to boost midfield creativity this transfer window.
Arsenal are intensifying their summer transfer activity with a strong interest in Maghnes Akliouche, the highly rated attacking midfielder from AS Monaco. As the Gunners look to strengthen their creative options ahead of the 2025/26 season, Arsenal target Akliouche has emerged as a key name on Mikel Arteta’s shortlist.
The 23-year-old Frenchman enjoyed a standout campaign in Ligue 1, registering five goals and ten assists, while also contributing in the Champions League with four goal involvements. His technical ability, versatility, and flair make him an ideal fit for Arteta’s fluid attacking system. Capable of playing as a No. 10 or on either wing, Akliouche offers the kind of tactical flexibility Arsenal are seeking to complement stars like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Akliouche is part of a broader recruitment strategy that also includes Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres. Interestingly, agent Hasan Çetinkaya represents both players, and early discussions about Gyökeres, as reported by L’Equipe, grew to include Akliouche, potentially giving Arsenal a negotiating edge.
Monaco are believed to be open to selling Akliouche but are demanding a fee in the region of €70–80 million. Financial pressures in French football, particularly around broadcast rights, may influence their willingness to negotiate. However, Arsenal face stiff competition from several top clubs, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Juventus.
With Kepa Arrizabalaga already secured as a backup goalkeeper, Arsenal are now focused on reinforcing their attacking depth. If they can land both Gyökeres and Akliouche, it would mark a significant statement of intent as they aim to challenge for domestic and European honors.
