Arsenal Set to Win the Race for Sporting Striker Viktor Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres Arsenal Move: Mikel Arteta targets Sporting CP’s prolific striker as Arsenal aims to add firepower in their push for Premier League glory

Viktor Gyokeres Arsenal move takes shape as Premier League rivals believe the Gunners are in pole position to secure the signing of Sporting CP’s prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to talkSPORT. With Mikel Arteta making Gyokeres a priority target ahead of the summer transfer window, the Swedish forward appears open to the move, setting the stage for a potential blockbuster signing.

Gyokeres has been nothing short of sensational this season, netting an astonishing 52 goals across all competitions. His lethal finishing, combined with his ability to create chances, has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in European football. Since joining Sporting CP from Coventry City in July 2023, he has amassed 95 goals and 27 assists in just 99 appearances, proving his consistency at the highest level.

Arsenal has long been in need of a reliable goal scorer to complement their attacking setup. While Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have contributed, neither has delivered the kind of prolific numbers Gyokeres has showcased in Portugal. With the Gunners aiming to strengthen their squad for the 2025/26 campaign, Gyokeres could be the missing piece in Arteta’s puzzle.

Despite interest from Manchester United, Gyokeres reportedly favors a move to North London over a reunion with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. Arsenal is understood to be the frontrunner in negotiations, with Sporting CP willing to sell the striker for £58.5 million, significantly lower than his release clause. This makes him a more affordable option compared to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, who has been valued at £150 million.

While Gyokeres has remained tight-lipped about his future, his performances continue to attract attention. If Arsenal can finalize the deal, they will be securing one of Europe’s most in-form strikers, potentially giving them the firepower needed to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
