The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal are on the verge of signing Martin Zubimendi, a player they have been targeting for some time.
Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of finalizing a £50 million deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, according to journalist Sami Mokbel. The Gunners have been long-time admirers of the 25-year-old defensive midfielder, and it seems their persistence is about to pay off.
Martin Zubimendi has established himself as one of La Liga’s most proficient defensive midfielders. His ability to break up play, distribute the ball effectively, and contribute to the team’s overall defensive solidity makes him an ideal fit for Arsenal’s midfield setup.
Arsenal has been in advanced talks with Real Sociedad, and it appears that a deal is “virtually completed”. The Gunners will trigger Zubimendi’s €60 million release clause to secure his services. Although Arsenal initially wanted to bring him in immediately, Real Sociedad insisted that he remains with them until the end of the season.
The addition of Zubimendi will be a significant boost for Arsenal, especially with the impending departures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey, whose contracts expire in the summer. Zubimendi’s arrival will provide depth and quality to the midfield, addressing a crucial area of the squad.
