Arsenal could receive a surprise sell-on clause fee if Juventus finalizes Jakub Kiwior transfer after an impressive season at Porto.

Arsenal could receive an unexpected financial boost as a result of a clause added to Jakub Kiwior recent transfer deal to FC Porto.

According to reports in Italy, Juventus is reportedly considering a move for the defender after his stellar stint at FC Porto.

Kiwior left Arsenal in September after struggling to find consistent minutes under Mikel Arteta. The Polish international joined Porto on loan in a deal that included an obligation to buy worth around £23 million.

If Porto complete that permanent transfer and then sell the defender to Juventus, Arsenal will benefit from a sell-on clause worth roughly £1.7 million (€2 million).

Defender Revives Career in Portugal

Since arriving in Portugal, Kiwior has rebuilt his reputation with a string of strong performances.

The 26-year-old has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Porto and quickly established himself as a reliable option in defence.

His composure on the ball and ability to operate as a left-sided centre-back or full-back have earned praise from observers across European football.

That form has now attracted interest from Juventus, who reportedly see him as a potential solution for their left-sided defensive role.

Italian outlet Tuttosport claims the Serie A giants have tracked Kiwior for more than two years, dating back to his time in Italian football.

Before joining Arsenal, Kiwior built his reputation in Serie A with Spezia, where he made 43 appearances before moving to north London in January 2023 for £20 million.

During his time at Arsenal, the defender featured 68 times across all competitions and contributed three goals and five assists.

However, increased competition for places eventually pushed him down the pecking order.

Arteta’s defensive rebuild included the arrival of Piero Hincapié from Bayer Leverkusen, initially on loan with an option to buy worth around £45 million.

Hincapié’s strong performances have helped Arsenal maintain a commanding position at the top of the Premier League, leaving limited opportunities for Kiwior before his move to Portugal.

Smart Clause Could Reward Arsenal

Although the potential £1.7 million sell-on payment would not dramatically change Arsenal’s finances, it represents pure profit from a player who has already left the club.

Sell-on clauses are a common strategy in modern transfer deals, allowing clubs to benefit if a player’s value rises after departure.

In this case, Arsenal’s recruitment team ensured they would still gain financially if Kiwior secured another major move.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Juventus could accelerate their interest if Porto complete the permanent purchase first.

If that chain of transfers unfolds, Arsenal supporters may see the club collect an unexpected bonus from Kiwior’s next career step.
