Arsenal reject Kiwior bid as Porto’s €27M loan-to-buy proposal fails to meet Gunners’ expectations for a permanent transfer.
Arsenal have reportedly reject a formal bid from FC Porto for Polish defender Jakub Kiwior, according to a report from A Bola. The Portuguese giants submitted a proposal structured as a loan with an obligation to buy, valued at €27 million, but the Gunners were not convinced by either the format or the valuation.
The North London club dismissed the bid, citing their preference for a permanent transfer rather than a loan-to-buy arrangement.
Arsenal are said to value Kiwior at €30 million, and are unwilling to negotiate below that threshold. Manager Mikel Arteta reportedly sees Kiwior as a key squad member heading into the 2025/26 season, especially given the club’s packed fixture list across domestic and European competitions.
Since joining from Spezia in January 2023 for €25 million plus add-ons, Kiwior has made steady progress at the Emirates. He featured in 30 matches last season, scoring once and providing two assists.
His versatility as a centre-back, left-back, and defensive midfielder has made him an invaluable asset. Notably, his composed performance against PSG in the Champions League earned praise, especially for his handling of Kylian Mbappé.

FC Porto’s pursuit of Kiwior was part of their broader effort to reinforce their defensive line. However, Arsenal’s firm stance and valuation led Porto to reconsider, with no follow-up bid currently on the table.
With Kiwior under contract until 2028 and reportedly settled in London, Arsenal appear determined to retain him unless their terms are met.
