Arsenal have turned down a loan proposal from Ajax for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale according to David Ornstein. The North London club has made it clear that they prefer a permanent transfer for the 26-year-old, who has seen limited playing time since the arrival of David Raya from Brentford.

Ramsdale, who was once the first-choice goalkeeper for Arsenal, found himself on the sidelines for much of the 2023-24 Premier League season. His situation became even more apparent when he was left on the bench for Arsenal’s recent friendlies, raising further doubts about his future at the club.

Despite the rejection, Ajax remains optimistic about securing Ramsdale’s services. The Dutch giants are hopeful that Arsenal’s stance might soften as the transfer window progresses. Ajax’s interest in Ramsdale underscores the goalkeeper’s value and potential to contribute significantly to any top-tier team.

David Ornstein also stated that Arsenal had already identified Espanyol’s Joan Garcia as a possible Ramsdale replacement. The young keeper is seen as a suitable backup for David Raya and could be a strategic addition to the squad.
