Massive boost, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard injury scans bring relief as Arsenal avoid major setbacks ahead of Liverpool clash,
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost after scans confirmed that Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard did not suffer any serious damage during the 5–0 win over Leeds United. Both players were forced off, raising fears ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool.
Saka Injury Update
Bukayo Saka limped off early in the second half with discomfort in his left hamstring. Given his previous hamstring issues, the substitution caused concern among fans and manager Mikel Arteta.
Scans later revealed the injury is only a minor strain. Reports from The Athletic suggest it could be a grade 1 or 2 hamstring issue, meaning Saka could return within 2–6 weeks depending on recovery progress.
Ødegaard Injury Update
Martin Ødegaard was withdrawn in the first half after landing awkwardly on his shoulder. Initial fears suggested an AC joint problem, but medical checks showed no major damage.
The Arsenal captain is believed to have suffered only a low-grade sprain. He could be available again within one or two weeks.
Arsenal’s Squad Depth Stepped Up
Even without their captain and star winger, Arsenal cruised past Leeds. Viktor Gyökeres and Jurrien Timber both scored braces, while Saka found the net before coming off. Youngsters Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman also impressed, showing Arsenal’s squad depth remains strong despite injuries to Kai Havertz, Ben White, and Gabriel Jesus.
After the game, Mikel Arteta admitted the injuries were concerning but was relieved by the scan results:
“For Bukayo to come off, it’s significant. He felt something while sprinting, and that’s never a good sign. Martin’s shoulder is also a concern. We’ll wait for the doctor’s full report.”
The Gunners travel to Anfield to face Liverpool next Sunday in a key Premier League clash. While Saka and Ødegaard might not be risked, Arsenal will hope their improved squad depth—including the arrival of Eberechi Eze—can keep their title challenge on track.
