William Saliba contract extension talks heat up as Arsenal move to secure their defensive star amid Real Madrid’s pursuit.

Arsenal is preparing a lucrative new contract for William Saliba in a bid to lock down the French defender’s future and ward off interest from Real Madrid. William Saliba, a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s backline, plans to sign the extension and join the club’s highest earners.

Since joining Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in 2019 for £27 million, Saliba has evolved into one of Europe’s top young defenders. After loan spells at Saint-Etienne, Nice, and Marseille, he returned to North London and quickly established himself as a key figure in Arteta’s system.

His partnership with Gabriel Magalhães has been central to Arsenal’s defensive success this season, helping the club maintain the best defensive record in the Premier League with just 23 goals conceded.

Real Madrid Eyes Saliba Amid Injury Crisis

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s interest in Saliba stems from their ongoing defensive struggles. With Eder Militao and David Alaba sidelined by ACL injuries, Carlo Ancelotti has leaned heavily on academy players to fill the void. Saliba’s consistency and composure have made him a prime target for the Spanish giants.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano recently clarified in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter that no negotiations are underway between the two clubs.

According to TBR Football, Arsenal plans to offer Saliba a new deal worth approximately €250,000 per week—placing him among the club’s top earners. The extension is a strategic priority for the Gunners as they aim to build a title-winning squad for the 2025–26 campaign.

Negotiations are expected to begin in the coming months, with Arsenal eager to finalize the deal before the new season kicks off.
