Arsenal is willing to consider the sale of Gabriel Martinelli if an offer above his market value is made, a report claims.

Arsenal’s Brazilian winger, Gabriel Martinelli, has been a key player for the Gunners since his debut in 2019. However, recent reports suggest that the club might be open to selling him if they receive an offer exceeding his market value.

Martinelli, who has scored 48 goals and provided 26 assists in 209 appearances for Arsenal, has seen his influence wane due to injuries and increased competition for places. Despite his impressive form in the 2022-23 season, where he notched 15 goals and five assists in 36 Premier League appearances, his status in the squad has changed.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has other options for the left-wing position, including Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling. The club is also expected to enter the market for a versatile new winger this summer. While Arteta is a big fan of Martinelli, the club’s hierarchy is willing to consider offers that exceed his market value.

The exact market value of Martinelli has not been disclosed, but he has previously been rated as high as £70 million. Saudi Arabia has been mentioned as a potential destination for the Brazilian winger, given their financial power.

In a Q&A session, The Athletic revealed Martinelli’s current position in the team, implying that it has changed as the season progressed. The 16-cap Brazil international is not one of the players Arsenal believes cannot be sold, and it is believed that if an interested club were to offer what the club considers to be “excess of his market value,” an exit would be permitted.

There’s no suggestion that Arsenal are actively looking to sell Martinelli – his contract runs until 2027 with the option of a further year – but the numbers suggest that Arteta is not getting the best out of a player who scored a career-high 15 Premier League goals during 2022/23.
