Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta faces a significant challenge with the recent injury to defender Ben White. White underwent a minor procedure to address a persistent knee issue, which is expected to sideline him for a few months. This leaves Arteta with the task of finding suitable replacements to maintain the team’s defensive solidity.

Here are three players who can step in for White:

Jurrien Timber has been impressive this season, showcasing his versatility by playing both right and left-back. Signed in 2023, Timber missed most of last season due to a serious knee injury but has since fully integrated into the team. His ability to play on either side of the defense makes him a strong candidate to fill White’s shoes.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, the Japanese international, is another versatile option for Arteta. Although he has also struggled with injuries this season, there is hope that he will return to full fitness soon. Tomiyasu started his Arsenal career on the right and has shown his capability to play across the back four. His return would provide much-needed depth and flexibility in the defense.

Thomas Partey, primarily a central midfielder, has also deputized at right-back in the past. His performance against Liverpool in this role was particularly noteworthy. With the arrival of Mikel Merino, Arsenal has the option to play Declan Rice and Merino in midfield, allowing Partey to move to right-back. However, this would require Merino to step up his game, as Partey is a key player in the midfield.

Arteta will need to carefully consider his options and possibly rotate these players to ensure the team remains competitive during White’s absence. The next few months will be crucial for Arsenal as they navigate through this challenging period without one of their key defenders.
