Fabrizio Romano provides an update on the ongoing transfer situation involving Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who has been the subject of interest from Chelsea and Arsenal as the summer window nears its conclusion.

In his latest Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside, renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the ongoing transfer saga involving Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen. Romano addressed recent reports from Italy suggesting that Arsenal might join Chelsea in the race to sign the Nigerian international. However, he clarified that, as of now, he is not aware of any serious interest from Arsenal.

Chelsea has been actively seeking to bolster their attacking options, and Osimhen has been a prime target for the Blues. Romano confirmed that Chelsea remains in the hunt for the prolific striker, despite the complexities surrounding the deal. The primary hurdles include Osimhen’s high salary demands and Napoli’s insistence on a permanent transfer rather than a loan deal.

While Arsenal fans might have been excited by the prospect of signing Osimhen, Romano’s insights suggest that the Gunners are not currently in the race. This comes as a disappointment to some, especially considering Arsenal’s recent big-money signings like Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, which have already stretched their budget.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was also linked with Osimhen earlier in the summer, but they have since shifted their focus to other targets. This leaves Chelsea as the most likely destination for the Nigerian forward, although no deal appears imminent at this stage.
